Yeah I'll try and do a once-a-weekend drive at highway speeds.

Right after I bought it I had to drive across country with it (had about 250 miles on it). Noticed quite a bit of carbon in/around the exhaust tip during the drive.. since then it's clean. Dunno what that was about.

That may be true about the gas mileage, but at this rate I only need to fill my tank about once a month so it's pretty inconsequential. I may consider a bike once temps come down some more.

Everyone wants to baby these modern vehicles. Drive it how you want, do the maintenance on the severe service schedule and worry about things that matter, like how your fantasy football team is doing. (I'm in first place after the first game! (and that's the last time I'll be there for the season ))

I keep my cars for a long time, typically 10 to 15 years. I never do anything more to them than the recommended maintenance, and sometimes not even that much. My commute is 5 miles each way and I never give a second thought about the truck. Now, back in the 70's (yes I'm that old) my cars probably deserved this kind of conversation. But they had carburetors, mechanical ignitions and the first attempts at emission control. Most of the advice I've seen here has nothing to do with a modern truck. Now pardon me while I figure out who to play this weekend. :D
