I'm a rookie to buying guns, but I have shot quite a bit of guns just never had my own (other than a .22 when I was younger and bb guns).

I'm looking to buy a compact or subcompact handgun next Saturday at a gunshow here in Arizona. I'm curious about the pro's and con's of a Kydex holster or a leather holster. Any input would be appreciated.

Depends on what you want to do. I have an AlienGear holster that is mostly leather and I love it unless its hot. Then its a hot sticky mess. Kydex is rough on the skin IWB but is durable for just about everything. I backpack and camp with a SERPA that is honestly my favorite OWB carry method. Just depends on your personal preference. Go to a gun store and try a couple. see what is comfortable with your firearm and what offers the best compromise between comfort accesibility and concealment if thats what you are going for. Just try and try again until you feel you have reached what you feel most comfortable with

Also have a Alien Gear holster, same issues in heat but it's a great product and was cheap.

check out HIDE IT HOLSTERS--best concealable holster I`ve found. Get the cell phone holder that comes with it. Will fit any size weapon up to a 1911 full size. NRA Wayne LaPierre uses one. Can use with any style/type of clothing.

For IWB I use a leather-kydex hybrid: Comp-tac Minotaur MTAC. It's the only one I've tried, so I can't offer any opinions. Just thought I'd highlight another option out there.

So like anything in life it all pretty much comes down to personal opinion it sounds like!

I think I'm leaning towards the Kydex as it sounds much better than hot leather in Arizona.
