I know which tire would get better gas mileage but I just wanted some peoples opinions on what they think and what they would do, but I've been thinking about buying some new tires and I drive about 132 miles a day for school and work well if I had 285's it would be some kind of all terrain and if I had a 265's it would be prolly goodyear duratrac the ones that have the 50,000 mile warranty with them. Which way would you go? Prolly asking a dumb question but oh well can't hurt to ask. Thanks!

132 miles a day! I would keep the stock size or get a civic. I drive about 28 miles round trip a day on my 285s and filling up $64 a week. your one day drive is four times more than mine. you would have to fill up every other day:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I spend $100 a week with stock tires and at the end of the week I have only a quarter of a tank left. No I don't wheel any.

if you don't wheel go with 265s. Or just go with 285s if you like the look. Obviously if $100 a week in gas isn't a big deal. $140 won't be either.

I only lost 1 or 2 mpg going from 265 duelers to 285 duratracs, but damn. That kinda mileage every day....it adds up. Meet in the middle like oz said with some good looking 275s

My bad...I was thinking of 275s in 16" tires. I know BKG KOs, but I hate those tires.

    265 = 31.6'' , 385 = 32.7''

    Fuel consumption goes with it.

Don't buy 33 tires if you do a lot of road...

    from stock I got:
    stock- around 19-20 mpgs
285s- nothing over 16.5 even on the highway. 15 in the city and I drive like a grandpa everywhere.

edit: that is also with a 3" lift & sliders

    This^^
I was getting 20-21 with the stock dungflops

I'm getting around 16-17 now with the BFG's and 3"... I on the other hand, drive like an ass

You're going to lose MPG's regardless

totally agree with everyone. I went from stock 245 to 265 and only lost about 1 or 2 mpg.

That being said I only average about 15mpg, because I enjoy the sound of my exhaust way to much some times.....

I drive all over the sun for work as well as do road trips all the time. Camping up logging roads also with fwd as well. I chose 265/70/17 duratracs and couldn't be happier. My other friends with tacos also chose that size and most with the duratracs as well. Mileage is negligible from before and they work and look great.

    One mans opinion.
