Alright, I have knocked out most of my vibration issues on my 2007 DCSB 4x4 with 6" lift. I have a diff drop up front and the ECGS bushing, and I went to a one piece rear drive shaft for the shuddering on acceleration. So why am I still getting vibrations up front from 10-40 mph in both 4x2 and 4x4?? There is also very faint gear chatter in 4x4. I am thinking it may be in the front diff. I have no more play up and down in the driver CV, but it seems to have a lot more play in "rotationally". In other words, I can turn the CV in the diff and hear the gears clunking together inside. I have been told that is is normal, and that it is backlash. Is this accurate information? Video attached.

thats normal. more than likely vibes are due to improper u joint angles on the rear shaft. if you have a one piece thats pretty easy to fix with some degree shims.

It is in the front though, I can feel it in the steering wheel. Applying the brakes doesn't make it better or worse, and wheel bearings are all good...plus I can feel resistance when coasting. Also what would cause the chattering/grinding noise in 4x4?

How is the vibration if you pull the front driveshaft?

I'll leave out how fast I had a new Ford Explorer going in 4 low with the front drive shaft out trying to diagnose a vibration back when I worked at the local Ford dealer but the speed limit on the road was 40MPH

At least I didn't wrap a first gen Lightning around a light pole like a service writer did.

I thought that could be the issue, but the front shaft doesnt turn in 4x2 because of the ADD. I can hear an occasional clunking and rattling in the front too. I just dont want to have to drop the diff if that isnt the problem. I guess I will have to drop the rear shaft to rule it out and then go from there...it doesn't feel anything like the issue I had with the stock driveshaft, and the noise is definately up front...
