Paul McCartney used to check into hotels under the name Paul Ramon, Dee Dee knew that and suggested they all go by Ramones.

I'm not a big fan of the Beatles either, but I know when to give credit when credit is due. You can bash their music all you want, but you can't deny the impact they made on the music industry. Almost every band that came after them probably had some sort of Beatles influence. Whether you like them or not, music wouldn't be music as it is today without them.

I've been a fan of the Ramones back to '77 inspired by the purchase of this british import that highlights how punk came from the US pretty clearly, check this lineup.

I wouldn't call the Beatles overrated though.

The Beatles aren't Dethklok but I wouldn't call them over-rated just because they aren't my bag

In my opinion Ramones, Leave Home, Rocket to Russia, It's Alive, and Road to Ruin are essential classics and after that it goes down hill fast.

Lets not go overboard or anything.. Give credit where it's due. But come on man that's quite the stretch.

    Oh and The Beatles suck.

Overrated? It is hard to overlook the impact of the Beatles during the 60s. It goes far beyond a playlist or Rolling Stone top 100. Starting with their debut on the Ed Sullivan show in Feb 1964, their influence on the American youth culture (baby boomers more than 41% of the US population at that time) shaped the decade socially, economically, & politically.

As far as their music I love it along with many other other talented artists. Their White Album is my favorite.

    This!

I am not particularly fond of The Beatles either. I feel that their stuff is way overrated. Made incredibly popular by the tree hugging weed smoking pill popping hippies which are now normal american citizens. Lol.

I agree, I think that's their best album.

How you feel about the Beatles mostly depends on your age I don't really listen to them anymore but feel a lot of their stuff is more creative than a lot of the stuff today

So, I have to ask..... (and maybe someone already asked the question)

Do you come from that era?? Did you grow up in that era?

A lot of you 20-something year olds - this music was HUGE before some of your parents were born!!

It's a *Beatles Thing, and you wouldn't understand*

I wasn't born yet when they were getting big and I'm not necessarily a fan either (I was too young to appreciate it for what it was at that time) - but - I'm old enough to appreciate anything they've done to boost the music world and they're music will always be legendary. Same goes for Elvis......

It's a different world now and you young kids just don't like the older style of music. That's understandable.

    Don't knock music history.....

This is one of the smartest posts in the whole thread. Quality and impact on music in general is VERY different from liking or not liking a group. You don't have to like the Beatles or have any songs in your tunes from them BUT you can't say they didn't have a large and lasting influence on music ever since.

Might I ask how old you are?

Where you in the music-is-my-life-years (let's say 13-20) when they were at their prime, the mid to late 60's?

    Guessing not.

That 'feature', right or wrong, has a lot to do with peoples likes and dislikes.

I was of that era. At the time I loved the upbeat fun songs and love songs (like Michele) of the early Beatles, but even then I didn't care for the shift in their music after they 'found themselves'.

Are they the greatest ever? Meh. Not in my book. But they certainly reformed the industry, kicked off the British invasion and opened the doors for many who followed that form of revolution.

Yeah, I have a few of their early works in my play list. But my faves of the last 10 years and current greatly outnumber them.

They're not my favorite band (I'd have to say my favorite is either ELO, Supertramp, or Boston) but I do like them, and they definitely had talent. Despite being born in 93, I grew up listening to the Beatles, among others.

Right. Listing to music back when it was being born, Stones Zeplin, Who, on and on, and now we have this non musical noise with no one playing an instrument, and what pray tell is significant today?
