My Headlight Lense Cracked

It's cracked, doesn't fog or leak water. But it has like a one inch crack on the lense. If it does get bad what are the options? Also, how the heck does this crack? I'd think the lenses would be pretty tough.

 

if its a crack, I would put some liquid super glue in it and then let it fill the crack. Or do a BLHM and by a used one online or a cheap one and just replace the lens. Do you have a pic of the crack?

 

No pics, I see that a new headlight unit is about $150 and that doesnt seem too bad. Where I am stuck is deciding to replace either one or both if it develops a leak. If I were to replace one I will have a new headlight on one side and a potentially duller looking one on the other side.

 

Just go to Amazon and type depo tacoma headlights. For the standard chrome bezel they are about $50 each. For the bhlm ones they are about $120 each. I would do both because like you stated above, the old one will look dull compared to the new one.

I'm just skeptical of the reflective pattern and issues with leaking.

 

The beam pattern should be the same since the reflector bowls aren't blacked out. If they are, well then you've got problems
You could always put a silicone seal around them to help prevent any leaking. From what I have read from others though, Depo and TYC are fairly good OEM replacement brands to use.

 

My full glass coverage on my insurance policy covers my headlights for road damage from rocks and debris. Check with your insurance agent for what your coverage is, and you may be able to get a free replacement. Worth a try.

 

I just got mail from toyota to address the issue. On my 2010 it extends the warranty for headlights to 5 years regardless of mileage. Seems like this has been an issue for years, so it's about time they do something about it. On the bright side, I get a free set of headlights next week!
