I bought a pair of hids not even a year yet and one of the bulbs burnt out
    10k 55watt. I've heard the 55watt burn out quicker than the 35watt.

HID's suck for everything except offroad , even then most guys go with LED bars, reason I say that is most guys just dump in the brightest POS they can find without any prep for them or adjustments, who the fuck needs HID main lamps, HID fogs all blazing at the same time, & as you say they're glitchy, Haha, this is funny, I typed "assholes with HID's"

Lo & Behold, someone from Tacomaworld shows up.......:D

HIDs are a dying technology. They are essentially the same thing as fluorescent bulbs which require high voltage to excite the gas inside the bulb. They can fail in many ways.

LEDs are the future of lighting. :D

& for as much as I've hated HID's the LED's tho' bright dont irritate or blind me near as much as those other fucked up lights

LED's are just great all around, plus they last much much longer. If the headlights aren't enough for you, then just get a slew of LED lightbar's. That will take care of the lack of lighting you may have during total blackout conditions.

I think the San Diego MTS buses have LED headlights. Passed one on the 15 south and was expecting to be blinded but surprisingly I wasn't, plus I noticed it was one uniform color instead of multiple colors of the spectrum like HIDs.

I don't mind stock OEM HIDs or even aftermarket installations where the owner did a retrofit or at least re-aimed their lights but the majority of HIDs I see on the road are utter crap.

Agreed, couple years ago a member went on deployment & didn't want to leave his truck on base so he left it at my place in Lakeside for a few months, He had HID's mains/floods & honestly I think I drove it twice at night the entire time I had it, roll up behind pretty much any vehicle & just blind the fuck out of their world... I felt like a dick ...serious...

^^^This. Assholes just slap on the brightest HIDs they can find and say they're done. However, they blind the hell out of everyone. Projectors make the lights have a more controlled beam of light rather than regular reflectors. Getting this done once I get my suspension set up :D

It is amazing how stupid people are when it comes to HID's in reflector housings. A city cop that lives in my neighborhood has them in his personal truck. You would think someone in law enforcement would know the difference and that they are blinding people at night. What a tool

Those are the same projectors I used to have on my truck.

Here is a write up I made way back in the day.
