    i have a 1996 tacoma 2.4 regular cab.
    it has sport seats.
the pictures attached show the scenario.

there are 4 spots to secure the seat to the body, yet only 3 are attached.
the front 2 bolts and the outside bolt are attached, the rear inner seat rail bolt hole is rotated about about 45 degrees from flat to the floor and has no bolt, or nut/bolt hole to attach to?
this is typical of both seats, passenger and driver.

any idea why? there is a knockout piece there, but its not knockedout, any idea whats up?
    thanks!

see attached pics, please....the picture shows the unused bolt flange and hole....

Are both drivers and pass side the same? If not, then it looks like this one has been damaged.

Just read the article. It appears that these seats are made like that for a reason, but definitely would not pass safety regs. today. If the seat does not move when it is in place now, don't worry. Or look to see if there is a recall/TSB covering this and have it repaired.

Have you tried to see if the bolt hole and the seat frame might line up if you loosen the other three? It is possible that the seat has been replaced?

    thanks for the notes...
yeah, loosening the bolts to align the 4th seat bolt hole doesn't help...its at the wrong angle anyhow.
original seats, and if you look at the attached FSM (factory service manual) picture you see the seat hole on the rear of the inside rail is angled....
    i'll look for a recall..

Looks like someone at the factory screwed up, is there a nut on the other side of the knockout? Perhaps the truck originally had bench seats from the factory so they didn't punch out the knockout. I just changed my seats for a premium set from a 4runner and it was the rear outside mount that didn't line up but some massaging with a BFH fixed that.
