When you ordered your 2015, when did they let you know when it was scheduled to hit the assembly line.

I put down a deposit last week and while I was there they did a search and said that they couldn't find one in a 1000 mile area and it would most likely need to be ordered.

Don't they know as sone as they submit the order when it's scheduled to be built? I'm going to call them Monday and ask. Just thought someone went through this recently.

I don't think they know anything when they submit the order, but they should get some kind of build date when it gets closer to production.

I'm waiting on one to be built myself. They got the allocation but said it was about 1 month out when I ordered it.

Hopefully only a couple weeks left. I put my truck up for sale shortly after ordering the Tacoma and it sold almost immediately leaving me with no truck :(

    Here's my experience.

I went to the dealership on Labor Day with my wife. We test drove in taco, and loved it. We told the sales person exactly what we wanted. He told us there were none in our exact configuration anywhere in Southern California.

He told us it would only take you $500 deposit and we could order what we wanted. We agreed to do this however the strange part is that he would not take our deposit until he had an idea of when the truck we wanted would be built.

It took four days of me calling him to get him to take or $500. He took it a week after Labor Day and the truck is scheduled to be built on October 9. It will be on the lot sometime between October 20 and the 24th.

Wow, I just put a deposit down last week, based on your time frame, I might be looking at end of Nov, beginning of Dec.

My guy looked all over too for mine.

It took the dealer about a week to get me a build date. My Taco Sport 4X4 V6 was built last Thursday and I might have this next Friday or Saturday.

Can't believe you all can't find anything on a lot. It's not like there are 30 versions of these trucks. I was pretty set on an Off-Road, DC, 4x4. Almost every combo of that was available within a day trip.

I know AC cabs are dificult to find. To be honest, out of all the dealers I went to a week ago when I got my left over '14, Off Road. There were zero Access Cabs around anywhere. Just short and long bed double cabs.

Also I've never "ordered" a vehicle, how does it work with the trade? Do you negotiate the trade today or when your new vehicle comes in?

I had to order my 2014 about this time last year, picked it up on Halloween night.
I was contacted when by the dealer when it shipped from the factory in San Antonio.
I did not have to put any money down.
It's tough having to wait on it.

The dealer I went thru also did a search and could find nothing within 500 miles.

I will go out on a limb and say, there probably is a real good possibility that not every dealer stocks every version and style that can be built given that the majority of their stock is consignment and their inventory turns quickly.

Maybe on your side of the country. But here in Michigan, nobody stocks tacomas, and if they do it's fully loaded $35k+ or bare bones basic reg cab 5-lugger fleet trucks. Just to give you an idea 100 miles radius from Lansing,mi (center of the state) there is a total of 37 tacomas in stock on cars.com
