Blown tweeter

So it sounds like i've blown the driver side front tweeter in under two month! The thing is, i don't blast the music or anything and don't think i've ever gone anywhere near the max volume. I've also never blown a speaker in 20+ years.

I've had the windows tinted a week or so ago, and they had to pop the door panel. I'll remove it again today and see if this is something they caused, but the shop that did the tint tinted 3 of my cars and 10 cars for my friends and never had any issues, so I am inclined to believe it is indeed a blown tweeter.

Obviously I have warranty, but is it worth replacing a shitty tweeter with the same shitty tweeter? Or should i just bite the bullet and buy some better aftermarket speakers? Which ones are the best?

Has anyone else here blown a tweeter / speaker in a brand new truck??

 

new speakers, you will be much happier with the sound.

 

I'd just fix it under warranty. Lot of threads here saying how much better their audio was with a head unit swap and OEM speakers.

So unless you want to change speakers anyway, I'd have it replaced. Upgrade H/U if you want more bang for your buck.

 

You will be happier with better sound, but if you can get a free tweeter out of Toyota why not just go for it? It will at least sound better until you can figure out a new stereo system.

 

That's true. I do wan't to upgrade my head unit, but i don't want anything mediocre and i'm definitely not ready to drop $2500 on an Alpine X009
