I've noticed over this summer that when I pull up and stop at a light while running the AC, it will feel like someone bumps me from behind when the compressor kicks on. It's like the extra load from the compressor causes the truck to want to lurch forward, and when it does, a single pop comes from the drive train. Anyone else ever experience this? I have a 2010 DC TRD Sport with 65k.

    Axle Wrap maybe.
But that would have nothing to do with your AC compressor, could be a coincidence in timing of the two.

Yeah, I've had two other Tacomas and never experienced this. Wonder if it could be something slipping in the rear end? I think the extra load caused by the compressor kicking on is just enough to cause something to slip.

I'd be re-torqing those rear u-bolts to 75-80 ft-lbs, and go from there.

I checked the U bolts and it took quite a few turns to get them all torqued to 80 lbs. I'll drive it for a few days and see if there is a difference.

    Thanks.

Company's Kia Sorento 4x4 (my DD) does that when it "wants" the transmission flushed and changed. Feels like you have a trailer behind you.

I have a manual in my taco and had bad axle wrap before I replaced the springs. The wrap was apparent when starting, not stopping.
