    I was browsing the forum yesterday and came across this thread;

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/266449-different-approach-snorkel.html

    I think this is an awesome idea, because I hate the stock position of the intake in the fender.. I'm forever sucking up mud.

    All these guys have the v6 and it has a different setup when it comes to the MAF, on the 4banger it's over by the fender along with the filter.. Has anyone done the same sort of intake reroute up under the cowl on the 2.7?

    Or am I completely on my own with this one?

    I was thinking I could rig something up, with the MAF and all that jazz (obviously), however what I'm thinking of right now involves the filter to be under the cowl, which would be an absolute ass to change.

    I was also looking to save room for a compressor (at some point, why not just kill two birds with one stone eh?).

    Anyone with an idea or suggestion would be much appreciated!

    none yet
    The problem that i see with the cowl idea is that the intake will now createa vacuum in the cowl which will create more work for your fan that pulls infresh air for the cab of your truck and not be as affective or even work atall. Unless I am missing something and there are more areas for air to enterthe cowl other than those little holes on the top of it then I don’t see thisas a good idea. Just my $.02

    They covered that in the thread! He put a divider between them and starved the CA less.

    The cowl is a high pressure zone, should still work without the divider.

    I'm unsure about where I can put the filter, MAF, etc.

    Have you ever went through a mud hole and had the water come up over the hood like a wave?

    ^This. Cowl is not that much higher than the fender intake. Get a snorkel if you ford deep water.

    I haven't gone through water that deep and I don't really plan on it! A snorkel doesn't save me any room under the hood, but I suppose its really the only option on a 2.7 for moving the intake.
