new toy owner of 06 tac p u. I'm a north east Bostonian Toyota owner, should I be worried? my 1st oil change on the truck, started with one or two drips a day after the oil got warm. I went to seal it and apiece of metal flaked off, creating a pin hole. can it last the winter? I was told its a good 800 to 1200 bucks for a new one. any advice... thanx

Above is an oil pan for your 2006 4 cylinder tacoma.
    It cost $32.79

Above is Toyota fipg 103, $10

Drain oil, take oil pan bolts out, use razor to cut old pan off.

Have lots of rags handy as motor will continue to drip while pan is off.

Use abrasive wheel on grinder to clean surfaces. Clean surfaces with break cleaner and rag. Apply a bead of 103 around oil pan with a circle around each bolt hole. Install oil pan tightening bolts in the middle on both sides towards the ends evenly.

    Done 50 bucks.

Very easy fix. Like as easy as changing the oil.

    Drain you're oil.
Remove oil pan, its just little bolts that hold it in place.
    Remove old gasket.
    Replace gasket.
Add aliitle rtv liquid gasket to surfaces to help with making a seal. Dont get the rtv on the threads of the bolts.
Replace pan. Don't over tighten the bolts. Place them on loosely until they're all in place and then tighten them.
    Replace oil.
    Done.
Buy a six pack and reward yourself for learning something new and saving $900.
