    Hi all-
I need some help with a strange issue in my charging system. About 6 months ago, my battery light started flickering. After checking all the usual suspects, I found it to be a bad connection on one of the spades in the pigtail that connects to the rear of the alternator. I soldered a new pig tail in and it held for a while but didn't last too long. I didn't realize at the time that the positive battery cable is all one piece with the pig tail and all made together. I ended up buying a new positive battery cable from my local dealership and the problem was fixed. No issues at all for 6 months or so.

Last night, as I'm driving home from work, the battery light pops on and is lit continuously. No flickering or anything. I pull over and pop the hood and push on the pig tail connector and the alternator starts charging again. Now, this is a brand new, factory cable from Toyota and I'm having the same problem as earlier. There's no way two pig tails go bad like that. Strangely, I unplugged the connector and checked the wires with my meter and I'm getting resistance on the yellow wire in the pig tail-the exact same wire I had resistance in on the old one. I've had the alternator checked at a reputable shop and the guy said there's nothing wrong with it. What do you guys think? Is there a way to check the voltage regulator on the alternator? Why am I getting resistance on the yellow wire? Please help because I'm at a loss.

Is this the stud or the plug? If it is the stud, maybe make sure the stud itself is tight in the casing.

    It's the plug.
