How much can one expect to pay for a set of retrofits? How big of a job is it to tackle, debating on buying a set allready done or buying the parts and attempting myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I don't want to be burned on the stake for running hid lights in hallogen housings.

A lot of variables. Labor starts around $450 for a quality job.

Just a heads up the Mini 2.0's require modification to the headlight to make them fit. To me if you are going to cut then you should just spend the extra to get the FXR set.

Not unless they're a brand new retrofitted set

They do not require trimming of the headlight.

There is not enough threads to fit the the cap on the end to hold the bulb in place.

You either have to remove the rubber piece (which is a bad idea) or shave the back of the headlight. I did get one to go after making minor mods but the cap for the bulb doesn't have enough treads and it pops off. I had the 1.0's, popped right in. Got the 2.0's and its been a nightmare making them fit. I've talked to a handful of people on TW that have the 2.0's, ALL had to shave the back like this or make other mods to make them fit.. They are about 5 threads too short.

Do it yourself and you will run yourself about $300 for the parts and your own labor.

Have somebody else do it and expect to pay the $250-300 for the projector kit, $150-300 for new lights if you go that route and probably $200-400 for labor depending how crazy you go.

Most of my customers run about $800-900 total cost

Oh I'm sorry, you did say 2.0s. I was thinking 3.0s.

This issue was fixed with 3.0's?

Actually I was wrong, I have the 3.0's. I ordered them a month ago. Not sure why I thought they were 2.0's for some reason. I should have looked at the site/box to confirm and that's my mistake. Unfortunately they do need modification now to fit the 3.0's. If they had 4-5 more threads everything would be a lot easier and no modification would be needed. The old projectors I had took me about 10 minutes to get them installed into the housing. The 3.0's are not the same.

Once I get done I was going to post a bunch of pic's on the install and the issues I had getting them to fit since I'm not the only one who thought these would require no modification and they do. Unless the 4 people I have talked to, and myself are just missing something completely that is causing us frustrations and having to modify.

I did a 3.0 install in a 2012 Tacoma with zero trimming to the reflector. You must use the hex lock nut and not the smaller knurled lock nut for it to work.

Sorry... One last question, do you always recomend using the silicone washer between the projector and the bowl? I read over at hidplanet that some just use some type of glue instead for a better hold... Also how tight do you attach that nut??
