You have to match the sender ohm rating to the gauge, otherwise it will never work.

It would probably help to get some pics and possibly the brand/model for the gauge etc

    Did a little research:

Here is what I found on another forum:

    Chevrolet is:

    0-90 ohms

    Ford is:

    73-10 ohms

    Dodge/Jeep and most aftermarket senders:

    240-33 ohms

You need to find a Tundra, Sequoia, 4Runner tank if you are wanting a larger tank, no other factory manufacturer will work correctly with your factory gauge.

Secondly, you need to get under there with an ohm meter and determine what wire is for the fuel sender, ground and fuel pump.

You need to verify your new gauge is for a Chevrolet sender.

I spent yrs doing fabrication, you can cut the fuel pump/sender bung out of your old tank and weld it into your donor tank, but it needs to be done by someone who understands the dangers of welding on a fuel tank and knows the proper safety procedures. I have done it on numerous occasions by filling the tank with water to cut it out and the same to re-weld it in the new tank, but I am in no way suggesting you do this and I accept no responsibility if you do.
