I have a 2001 Tacoma 2.4l regular cab with automatic tans. I know I need to change the belts soon and have them in hand probably going to do today or tomorrow. But what else could be a problem I have since my engine making a loud noise but im hardly going anywhere fast. A bus could beat me off the start right now. What could be the problem?

Grey wire and keyless entry. I like stock.
Changing belts won't make your truck faster or slower. Has it always been this slow? If so, then its probably fine and you just have to get used to having an underpowered engine. If it has not been this way very long and you are getting CEL's, then something is off with your engine. Maybe your MAF sensor or tps or vacuum leaks, etc, etc.

If it hasn't been this slow for long, then it could still be your engine, but also your transmission. An under or overfilled auto tranny will make the truck sluggish. Also, depending on mileage, your tranny could possibly just be at the end of its life.

Lots of factors to consider, given the limited amount of info given. Good luck.
