i know im full of ?s..i find my self looking with a fine tooth comb lately!! looking down the fuel filler neck of my truck i noticed it does not have the circular spring loaded door type thing that my other rides have. im not sure the exact name..but are these trucks suppose to have one and maybe it got knocked out? im talking about the metal ring type door that the pump nozzle pushes through on other vehicles to actually penetrate in to the filler neck. if this is missing could this be triggering my cel? a friend at work actually hooked up his scanner and could not pull any codes.

No the Tacoma's don't have a trap door in the filler neck like that. If I recall they have a mesh like filter right where the neck goes into the tank.

There is a ball check valve at the bottom of the filler neck to prevent fuel spillage in the event of a roll over. This also prevents the entry of a Hose into the tank. Green Ball Check Valve.
