When I was looking at phones to get the full internet on the blackberry you had to get a package deal through the service provider but it was only for the blackberry and it was way more expensive that any other. I am on ATT so it may be different with other servers. Just didn't want you to get screwed. A buddy of mine got one for his birthday from his wife and when he went to get internet hooked up they wanted to charge him like 60 bucks. Sorry just saw where you were with alltel.

i looked at ATT but Alltel seems to work better in my area. all i know is i pay one fee for a voice plan, a My Circle of 10 (which is awesome), unlimited data (internet, downloads, email etc...), nights and weekends start at 7, unlimited text, and maybe some other stuff. you do have to pay more than for just a voice plan but you ahve to do that with any network and any smartphone if you want to use their network for internet. or you can buy a phone that has wifi (no idea if mine has it or not) and just use it at hotspots. but if you want to be connected to the internet at all times you have to pay for the service. thats not just a blackberry thing though

That must have been just another way that ATT takes it to ya. I would love to have a choice of services. Its either sprint or ATT where I live. Alltel sounds pretty cool. I have internet and all the other on my phone and just pay the unlimited price. So I may have overlooked it, what phone did you end up going with the curve or the pearl?

The company said the BlackBerry Bold makes short work of downloading email attachments, streaming video or rendering web pages.

The BlackBerry Bold is scheduled to be available from wireless carriers around the world beginning this summer.
An analyst at Citigroup said the announcement of the 3G model is ahead of expectation, as they had been expecting the device later this year. The firm said, "we estimate the Bold could increase RIM's quarterly shipments by 200-400k."

right now the only way to get 3G is on a CDMA network from what i understand (verizon, alltel), the GSM networks (ATT) have the edge network which is not 3G. the Curve on a CDMA networks will give you 3G and GPS but no wireless. if you want wireless you need to get the 8800 world edition. you can read a review of the BB9000 at crackberry.com. 3 of them somehow found their way onto ebay and the proprietor of crackberry picked one up before the other two got pulled from teh auction. as of right now its the only 9000 out in consumer hands and he has done a full write up in 4 parts, pretty interesting.
