'14 Tacoma 5 lugs of fury!
Draw Tite hitch, K&N 63 series intake, Tinted, Magnaflow 14" muffler, More to come!
Just thought I'd share my experience with my new(ish) LC Engineering 2.7L 2TR header for my 5 lug tacoma. I've had it on for about 1,300 miles and 3 weeks. The part arrived WELL packaged, almost UPS proof, and with ALL required parts! The finish and welds are nothing short of a work of art! The install was not QUITE so magical however. Their instructions are lacking in a few areas. Plan on unbolting your A/C lines, and GENTLY pull them towards the wheel well to get the header into place. Also, save yourself the headache and go ahead and completely unbolt the mid section of your exhaust that has the cat in it. I COULD NOT for the life of me get the header on the studs and flanges to line up without doing this. If you watch LCE's install video, it's apparent that they have done both of these things without stating so in their instructions. Leave the EGR valve and the pipe connecting it to the stock manifold together also, no need to separate them at any time.
Once the header was on fine (enlist the help of a friend with small flexible hands) the truck started fine, and actually is quieter than my previous set up (K&N cool air intake, and magnaflow 14" muffler, 235/75/15 Goodyear wrangler duratrac's). This header shifted the torque curve downward by about 1K RPM. I VERY rarely see 3,000 RPM since the install. I can now tow a 1,200# trailer with two ATV's with NO trouble to 55mph and can still use 5th gear on flat ground and run 65-70mph no trouble (yeah I know I'm NOT REALLY supposed to used 5th with the trailer) Without the trailer I am getting back to almost 23MPG, and can run 45mph in 5th gear with the A/C on and about 1600RPM. MONEY WELL SPENT! Thanks for reading, please let me know if I've left anything out.
