Even the loaded Sahara 4-door Wranglers make my Tacoma feel like a BMW on normal roads.

Or just make an aluminum one. First good flex or articulation and it bends

02 Tacoma, fixed with curse words.
And the Tacoma/US spec trucks keeps on getting bigger, becoming more bloated, and quality keeps going down....

Whats the difference between Toyota and Jeep again?

FYI former jeep owner (i still own a 1944 willys mb), now Toyota nut swinger....

Nothing wrong with Unibody..... The Cherokee (XJ) is unibody. The Grand Cherokee is Unibody. Search google and you'll find plenty of highly built rockcrawling unibody rigs.

Jeep has a longer offroading history and a much bigger aftermarket support. That will never go away..... Jeep fans will always be jeep fans. Jeep will probably always support the offroading culture. Toyota tried to start a culture with the FJ Trail Team effort.... but what happened to that?

Toyota doesn't care about offroading like Jeep cares about offroading. Toyota is too busy making sedans & hybrids.

Yea...I used to own a built Jeep for many years. I'd buy one again to build if I wanted to get back into it. But...I'd never buy one for my daily driving.

Exactly, Aluminum has no memory when it flexes, unlike steel. They would do a unibody before they opted for an soda can frame.

But yes, you can bet the 4th gen Tacoma will either not exist any longer, or become so watered down, you might as well call it a CUV with a box on the back.

I strongly feel like the only trucks that will be available to the buying public in the next 15-20 years, will be restricted to 3/4 and full 1 tons. This will force people that actually NEED a truck into one, with little or no other option. I'm certain that fully autonomous versions won't be far behind from there.

My XJ was a beast off-road, and it was one of the most reliable vehicles I've owned. If it had a bed I'd probably still be driving it.

Unless Toyota takes some major steps to modernize the Tacoma my next vehicle will most likely be a 2020-ish Ford F-150.

One of the most reliable vehicles I've ever owned, and I beat the snot out of it and put it away wet. Had it for 6 years, I'd get another in a heartbeat. That being said, my Taco has been just as reliable.
