I am looking at adding some Cadillac horns to my 2015 Taco. I know there are threads that have some good help but I don't know how to ferret them out. Do any of you know about the possible wiring difficulties that I might encounter? Looking to find some 60' - 70's horns. Thanks

You should be able to mount them to a grounded location ( the mount point is the ground, make sure it is clean of paint etc... ) and just run the existing hot wire from the Toyota horns to the replacement horns.

The only thing you really need to fret over is the current draw of the new horns. I think the existing circuit would be fine for most standard off the shelf horn set. The Tacoma is rated at 10 amperes on a dual horn setup stock.

I used to run additional horns on my old Tacoma. I tried using the stock wiring but received sub-par results. I'd recommend using a relay setup, using the hot wire as the signal wire and running a dedicated power wire to the relay.

Could you explain that part to me? What do you mean sub-par results?

If they are grounded properly and you supply 12 VDC via the factory wiring they will blow... If the horns are drawing less than 10 amps everything else will be fine.

The factory system already has a relay in it, with a dedicated power wire. Why add another?

I was using one of those stupid Wolo compressor horns.. It felt/sounded like it wasn't getting enough power. I hooked up the relay and everything was fine.

Generally speaking I don't like to run any additional power on factory wiring that was never meant to be spliced to power additional loads. I'd rather signal my own relay and provide dedicated power to whatever it is that I'm powering.
