There have been a number of Posts on Tacoma OEM batteries dying at about 3 years or so. I Usually change mine at 4+ yrs regardless. Bring it in to a decent shop and they should test if (UNDER load) and your charging system and be done with it. IMHO

Sounds like your battery took a dump. Time for a new one.

ALL power?? check batter posts and cables FIRST.
Normally you can tell if it is loosing power-not just going dead immediately.
If posts and cables are CLEAN and TIGHT-time for a new battery!

get a new battery and be done with it; if you're under 3/36 the dealer will do it for free. sometimes they just fail....

Lots of threads on here lately about 2011 batteries giving it up. Dealership replaced mine under warranty right before 3 years (25k miles).

I disagree. The day before my battery kicked the bucket, the truck was working fine. When it kicked the bucket, was in the middle of a day trip when we stopped for gas, and it wouldn't start again. Tested it, battery was sitting at 10.6v.

New battery in, few more long drives, no problems at all. Modern batteries have a very sharp falloff when they die...

I have seen that but only when they drop a cell. You can tell when the voltage drops 2 volts (or multiples of 2v). They totally crap out with no warning. But I also seen some just slowly loose power like a typical battery dying out. After a few weeks/months they die.

Agreed with everyone. I had to change mine in my 09 in 2012. It was fine and boom it just stopped working after I got home.

Yep. It's done. Batteries don't slowly die anymore. You don't even get the battery idiot light anymore usually. They just suddenly go.

Car before I had my Tacoma. Me and the wife where hitting up a couple stores. We stopped at the first one, did our thing. Then drove to the next one. Car started fine, no lights. Parked, did our shopping, came out. Nothing. Just dead. Wouldn't even take a jump.

I really wish there was more warning.

Mine just craped out on my 2011. It was an OEM. As a matter of fact my wife's Rav 4 OEM died after 3 + years as well. But I do live in Arizona and that is pretty normal out here. Pretty sure if you change your battery you will be fine .

Mine just crapped out on my 2011 yesterday. No warning or anything. Drove to the store, no problem, came out about 30 min later and it was stone dead.

My 2011 battery died a month and a half ago. It is bound to happen sooner or later. 3 years isn't too out of the ordinary.

It's bad with no warning, this has happened to me twice. I have a 2012 Tacoma and I'm on my 3rd battery (still under warranty).

After this Toyota battery goes, what brand and rating does everyone recommend?
    Thanks

Please keep in mind that batteries and vehicle charging systems are co-dependent on each other to stay healthy. Other common problems are terminal/lug corrosion and lack of preventative maintenance such as replacing lost distilled water. Broken intercell strap connections are very rare for a catastrophic battery failure. Another very common problem is assuming that when the dealers or auto lub stores services the vehicle that lost water is replaced in the battery, fluids are at the correct levels, or tires are filled to the recommended pressures. Some dealers/stores do and some do not and humans make mistakes. IMHO, a periodic ten minute preventive maintenance followup is probably the best investment you can make for your vehicle.
