So sorry for your loss. Our animals are truly our best friends. The time we get with them is always too short. Maybe Polar is up there somewhere playing with my Lily, waiting to see us again. I lost her 16 months ago, and still think of her daily.

Thank you for sharing your loss with us as I know Im not the only one that had such difficult time with the loss of my German shepherd Husky mix who was ten . I lost her last month from cancer and she was my best friend always wanting to be by my side . I get so mad at myself after her passing because I question whether I could of done more to save her life but I know I did the right thing of letting her go as she had hip problem for years and digestive problem . I keep her favorite ball next to my computer . Im a hospice nurse and deal with death every day but when its your own family member it hits you in such a different way . Your Boxer is always with you and your wife , the memories of the time you/we spent with our dogs are the best moments we could ever ask for in life as they only want our love and attention .

    RIP Polar

Sorry for your loss. I am a boxer guy and I went through this 3 years ago when I lost my 6 year old girl, Harley, to cancer very unexpectedly.

I know it is hard to believe this right now but everyday gets a little bit better. You, your wife and your family will be in my thoughts & prayers

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
Thank you all again. I'm sitting here on my phone, with him next to me. I brought up some rocks and stones for him. He loved playing in the creek. I built a little Memorial over his grave. My wife will be so proud, and he'll just be a short walk, in a beautiful area of our woods

Im sorry for your loss, it seems as though our pets become like children. You worry when they are sick, you hope they stay healthy, and when your gone you cant wait to get back home to them. Losing a pet is very hard and will never be easy. It sounds like Polar was a loving boxer and is sadly missed. I hope that it eases as time goes on. RIP Polar

I have two dogs and I treat them like my children since I don't have any.

I feel for your loss and I know it's hard to cope with but always keep him in your memories and he'll be with you for as long as you walk this earth. I feel it will also help you heal by recalling all the good and bad times you had with him.

My very good girlfriend just put down her 11 year old lab and being that she's single, it was hard on her. My wife and I went with her to the Vet and I stayed with the dog "Reagan" until she breathed her last breath. This was my second time doing this as I had to do the same thing with my childhood Britney Spaniel. As hard as it is to watch them pass in front of me, I feel it helped me full say goodbye and know they are no longer suffering.

In hopes this makes you smile, here are my two pups in the Tacoma on their first road trip in the truck. They like it much better than our Audi Avant.

We also don't have children, so he was our #1 priority, our "child". I was asked yesterday by my cousin if I would have just rather come home to find him. I said hell no. As hard as it was, I wouldn't change it. I know he was surrounded by love, I could hug him and say my goodbye. Today was a good day. I think yesterday helped me, building his grave, memorial if you will, better. My biggest pain right now is for my wife. That she didn't have the opportunity that I did. When she comes home Saturday, unfortunately my grieving will come back. But I want her to be okay, and I'll walk that road with her.

Btw, yes the picture gave me a smile :)

I know too the pain and sorrow your heart feels ,I had to say fair well to my little Goofy in june 2006 my mom in 2009 ,dad in 1991,and to this day every night I tell them good night and I miss and love them and to take care of each other. Goofy was with me for over 18 yrs,it was like a knife cut out my heart.Take solace that he found a great home and loving "mom & dad" in you all ,there is a little poem called The Rainbow bridge its real nice it might make you feel a little better. I now have 4 cockers (as was Goofy ) Fat Boy Harley ,Sweet Girl Sugar ,Pretty Boy Chance and Lover Boy Civic we all will say a prayer for you and your wife & good ol" Polar .

A little too early to say. They are wonderful dogs, but time will tell what we decide.

I have read that poem before. I have not read it since he passed, but will. Thank you for your prayers.
