Sup guys, need some help here on my upcoming build and before everyone boasts me about searching the forums yes I have done that but I keep getting inconsistent information regarding parts so I want everything cleared here. VEHICLE- 2002 TACOMA 2WD 5 LUG

1st thing first- I'm not looking for any serious off-road performance just enough lift to give it some looks and to put a nice set of tires on for occasional trail riding.

2nd- I'm going to be using fabtech spindles for the front and a AAL in the rear. I'll be swapping out shocks all around for bilstein.

3rd...question time!- I keep reading and get inconsistent info as to whether or not I need adjustable shocks for front or rear. I called 4wheelparts and they said doing a spindle lift with an AAL I DO NOT need adjustable shocks, yet here on the forums and on yotatech and customtaco I have read that you DO need them. ANYONE ABLE TO CLARIFY THIS FOR ME?

4th- As for the shocks 4wheelparts and another local off-road store near me said 5100 shocks were never released for my 5 lug and that they only made 4600 series which are NON ADJUSTABLE. So do they or do they not make these suckas? If they do can anyone link em? or give me a part #

5th- So going towards the negative if they don't make adjustable bilsteins for my baby how the eff am I suppose to lift it ??? Anyone who has lifted a 5 lug with info or insight would be GREATLY appreciated.

6th- I keep hearing doing this type of lift (spindle with AAL) I put a severe amount of strain on lower control arm bushing? Talked to a mechanic and he called BS, he might be wrong, what are the dangers (if any) in doing this lift and what stock components should I swap to make this a good everyday reliable driver

    So far i have

    Fabtech spindle- 310$

bilstein shocks 4600 series all around (I get special pricing from a friend)- 220$

    AAL rear pair- 45$

If anyone has any better suggestions in regards to a lift for my baby I'm all ears! Trying to stay under 1200$ for lift kit so keep that in mind.

I highly doubt that you'll have any problems with the bushings by adding a spindle lift. I plan on doing the same with the spindles and AAL in the very near future.

I am going to use some longer shocks in the back, due to the larger gap between the axle and the upper shock mount when adding an AAL, or a shackle, for that matter. You'll be safe with the stock front shocks, as the suspension travel will not be effected.

My concern with our lifts is the third member (rear gears). When a larger tire is used, we will have to lower the rear gear, I just don't know how to choose what route to take? What third members fit and from what vehicles? I plan on going with 235/75-15's, as they are cheap and 29" tall, using a 4.10 rear gear set. Choosing the donor vehicle to pull the third member from is my biggest hurdle thus far.

So usually the rear will have issues?

I was planning in using longer shocks for rear but wasn't aware of any issues with our rear gears

If you put larger tires on your truck, you will need to eventually swap in some lower gears to bring the acceleration and speedometer back to stock.

I appreciate the input brother! I didn't know all this. I'm ended up going with a fabtech spindle lift kit, comes with shocks, AAL and spindle for front. When it comes in I'll let you know how it turns out!

ok, i'll say what we are all thinking here, why not just sell it and start over with a prerunner? it will already be raised and have the beefed up 4wd suspension, then if you want to go higher your in a much better place.

the 5 lug trucks have car suspensions for smooth soft ride and what you are looking to do will mean replacing just about everything but the frame and body so its not the best plan IMHO.

    there, its said now

Appreciate the input. However the truck has sentimental value to me. Grandfather, who is now deceased, gave it to me as my first vehicle. I have another vehicle I daily drive. This is my vehicle I wish to mod. Again appreciate the input but if anyone else has any better suggestions please let me know. Thanks.

In advance if your suggestion is going to be just to buy another vehicle please save your effort.
