I have a 2001 Tacoma with 200,000 miles (I bought it with 60,000) that needs some love -- rack and pinion, shocks, and tires.

Local dealership has 2015 double cab, TRD sport, long bed waiting for me sign papers on Saturday. But... I'm seeing rumors of 2016 redesign and I found a super clean 2004 extended cab, TRD, with 130K miles that I could get to tide me over for another year.

I've been lurking here for years and thought I might start asking some questions in these confusing tacoma times.

    Thats my short Tacoma story.

    Welcome!
Many guys here are still buying new trucks (2014 or 2015) models. We all are anticipating a whole new model to probably come out next year. I would rather wait for that, but if you get the 2015 now and keep it for say 3 years, then the new model will be out for 2 years and initial issues will hopefully be resolved. Then you can trade up.
    Tough choice

Welcome to the forum. I was in the same boat as you debating on holding out for a redesign but a friend who knows a guy in Toyota said no big changes for 2016 so I decided not to wait. Only time will tell if he was full of crap or not. Good luck.

Welcome! I would like to add that if you were to buy a 2015, it would depreciate greatly when the 2016 comes out. That being said, you could use that as leverage on a 2015.

I know you didn't say you wanted one, I was just adding to what boersun said.

Welcome! I decided not to wait and got a 2014. When the new one comes out it will be decision time.
