Thought I should make a build thread about my 91 pickup seeing as it gets way more attention than my 2014 Tacoma does .

I keep the intro short, if anyone is interested in a more detailed buildup (at least to the trucks current point as of 10/15/2014) I will provide a link to my Yotatech thread. http://www.yotatech.com/f199/nieb15s-1991-pickup-build-up-aka-4x4-turbo-247476/

Here is my 1991 pickup DLX longbed. It was and still is my first vehicle and continues to be my daily driver. I have been slowly building it up as time and budget allows. I am aiming for an expedition type vehicle that can still be driven daily. As of October 2014 it has around 225,000 miles, has not required any major repairs, and still runs like a dream.

No, it does not have a turbo. It is an inside joke among my friends, one of them stuck a badge on the tailgate one night and I haven't touched it since. Obviously the name stuck.

    My plans (constantly changing):
    Body/Armor:
-Cab chop, cut out the back of the cab and seal the camper/truck bed like the first gen 4runners.
    -Fiberglass fenders all around
-Tube front, sliders, and rear tire carrier.
-Full roof rack tied into sliders and rear bumper
    -Possible Ivan Stewart paintjob

    Engine:
-Run the current 3.0L till I finish the body mods then...
-Either swap in a 3.4L or the dream would be to obtain a diesel engine.

Suspension/tires (unsure about exact items yet):
    -Long travel front and rear
-33" tires most likely, 35" tires still a possibility.

    Differentials/Transmission:
-E-locker in the rear, ARB air locker in the front
    -Or ARB front and rear
-Gearing will depend on final tire size.
    -Dual cases

    Interior:
    -Tacoma bucket seats
-Cut out cab, mount stock bench in truck bed
    -Rebuild dash
    -Custom center and overhead consoles
    -Harnesses for front bucket seats
I'll post a bit about the actual buildup tomorrow when I get some more time.

Just finished up a super busy month at work, had zero free time. Things are back to normal tomorrow so I'll try to turn this into an actual build ha ha.

Well it looks like I will be traveling to SoCal for a month for work. When I get back I have a garage full of parts to throw into this truck so stay tuned. I'll upload some of my old build material in the meantime.

First real modification I made to the truck was to swap in an SR5 gauge cluster. It was very nice to finally have a tach! Changed the odometer over so the new cluster was the same as my old one, gotta take pride in that high mileage!

And now to the whole reason I originally joined TacomaWorld! My BAMF rock sliders bought during the 2012 group buy! Best investment I've made to date!

Reworking my engine bay, interior, and rear wiring right now. My interior is pretty stripped, getting ready to swap in the new seats and replace the dash pad.

Sadly going to be selling my truck very soon. New house does not have room for multiple vehicles. Updated pictures and info will come soon if anyone is interested.

Bumping my old build thread for an absolute long shot.

Biggest regret in my vehicle ownership was the forced sale of this truck. Unfortunately lack of room at my housing at the time and the impractical nature of being a single cab led to the sale.

I would love to try and locate it again and continue my original plans. If anyone has seen it or might have any info to its whereabouts I would greatly appreciate it!

I sold it in Northern California in the Bay Area in Early 2017. The camper shell was scrapped, and I kept my CB radio, antenna, and mount. Everything else was the same. With the sale I included the Tacoma bucket seats with the black and red Wet Okole seat covers, and I know for a fact the new buyer installed them. From my knowledge (it’s been a while since I’ve been around this community so forgive me if I’m wrong), the truck still has one of the only sets of B.A.M.F. rock sliders fitted to a pre Tacoma pickup.

Like I said, it’s a long shot (it was a first truck for a teenager so hopefully it didn’t get wrecked), but I miss it like crazy.
