Okay I'm new here and i just purchased a 2012 DCLB and I've already added some minor stuff to her.

    Please read the entire post!

    I'd like to add...
-2 ammo boxes on either side of the bed
-Paint my radiator with high temp engine paint
    -purchases front mud flaps
-add bed lights in those useless pockets
-can someone please show me how to add locks on the truck bed compartments?

I know there are posts out there for these, but I haven't found details about each.

Can anyone please post links or give assistance to these modifications?

    HERE ARE MY QUESTIONS

-How do i add the ammo boxes, and if I do, can they be stolen easily?
-If i paint my radiator is it going to mess anything up or is it bad to paint?
-If I purchase mud flaps, where the heck do i get the hardwear to attach them and anyone have any recommendations where to but the FRONT to match the rear factory ones?
-Can you all please post all you can about how to wire lights for the bed pockets?

    Please help me out fellas!

    Thanks in advance

    Hey!

Welcome to TW. I hope my post below helps you out.
-How do i add the ammo boxes, and if I do, can they be stolen easily?
Drill a hole in the box (x2) and bolt them to the side rails. If they are locked and bolted down no one walking past will be able to steal them.

-If i paint my radiator is it going to mess anything up or is it bad to paint?
I am not sure so I will pass on answering this one.

-If I purchase mud flaps, where the heck do i get the hardwear to attach them and anyone have any recommendations where to but the FRONT to match the rear factory ones?
Where do you live? If you are local you can have my front mud flaps as the trails will just rip them off again. Also just check local salvage yards for mud flaps from any Tacoma 2005 and newer and they'll work.

Toyota sells the hardware to install the mud flaps, I think each plastic screw is $2.00.

-Can you all please post all you can about how to wire lights for the bed pockets?
    Not sure.

    I added a bolt once...
Mud Flaps....OEM's are too long and will break.
Amazon Husky flaps are great. I took my 2014 front flaps off on day three and replaced based on my experience with OEM's on a 2006.

you can get hardware at Amazon also.

Here are the Huskey's....shorter and match well.

    Welcome to TW OP

I painted my rad with high temp BBQ spray paint. Didn't affect anything. Looks so much better.

Here is the DIY I used for the lockable bed storage:

Do not paint the radiator - it could and probably will reduce heat transfer.

I removed my front flaps ... cut off about 3" or so ... transferred the bottom curve and trimmed up the shorter ... look like they belong ... which they do.

One method used for modeling heat transfer is to treat all of the components and/or layers that heat must pass through similarly to resistors in an electrical circuit. In this case the "resistors" would be in series as paint is adding a layer that any heat would pass through after the radiator. Not to be flippant, but resistors do not have negative values; they might be small but they are not zero. Therefore, painting your radiator WILL DECREASE its heat transfer rate...period.

Will it decrease to the point of being detrimental? Maybe, maybe not. It's your truck so you make the call.

If your into physics and math click below:
    http://www.engr.colostate.edu/~allan/heat_trans/page5/page5.html

Just for the record, I am not claiming to be an expert in anyway shape or form when it comes to heat transfer; it's been years since I had to work any of these problems. ETA: I will not be painting my radiator under any circumstance. Function > Form.

Here is a link on how to add locks to the bedside compartments. Hope this helps.

Assuming you're going for the look; you're really painting the condenser to the AC? Right?
2012 has some warranty left certainly to be voided by painting and unless you're sure about this, leave radiator/condenser alone.
If you want a different look; others have installed black gutter mesh inside lower/upper front to help cut done on condenser deaths due to stones.
