Hey Guys, I need to run something by y'all. This isn't a bashing thread - - I'm seeking legitimate help. It might be very easy; I'm just uneducated.

A year ago I left my interior lights on when I left a door ajar. The next day, my battery was dead. I had a friend jump me off and all was well. Since then I have blown 6 DTRL’s, and 1 headlight. I have noticed burn marks around the base of where my DTRL’s plug in. The plastic on both lenses (headlight assembly lenses) is melting right above the mid-point (my thread is not about that issue). I’m just wondering if I’m having a voltage issue.

Today I drove my car like every other day, ran like a dream. Then tonight I went to start it and the key FOB wouldn’t even unlock the doors. SO I manually keyed in and found my battery totally dead.

The battery is 3 years old and the truck has 31,000 on it. Can anyone point me in a direction to look? Fuses? I don’t know if maybe I blew a fuse when I jumped the truck off. All of my electrical problems have been since the jump. Tonight I replaced the battery but I would like to find the cause. Thanks for any advice in advance.

Take it to autozone or some place similar and have the battery load tested. I think I read on here that the 05-11 trucks have a tendency to burn the dtrls and the dtrl housing.

Yeah, the battery was toast. I was just wondering if jumping my truck a while back is causing my complications.

I also just saw the bulletin on the lens replacements.

If you jumped you battery correctly, more than likely it was the deep discharge that cause the problem. When you completely drain your battery you can have what is called cell reversal where one or more cells will switch polarity. With cell reversal, when you attempt to recharge the battery, it will not take a full charge. It is possible to try to correct this condition by completely draining the battery and reforming it to the correct polarity.

My last vehicle (non Toyota) had a program in the computer to watch anything that was on after the ign is locked and XXX minutes and shut it down. It did save me from a battery drain once when I also failed to fully close the door. Does Toyota have this feature ??
