Hello. I am a relatively new Tacoma owner. I am very mechanical but looking to learn a bit more about properly adding accessories to my Tacoma (2006 SR5 TRD Sport). I have a very clear idea as to what I want to do. These are the items I need some assistance with:

3" lift -- This is what I have been looking at: https://bilsteinlifts.com/shop/05-and-up-tacoma/bilstein-adjustable-lift-kit-with-5100-shocks/ -- Is this a good kit to start with, dependable and reliable?

Mickey Thompson Classic Lock Black (II, Baja) -- I really like look and style of these rims. From what I have read it appear the Baja rims have replaced the Classic Lock II's? Not sure about this, but any information would be great! -- http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/newproductpage.php?id=28 --http://www.streetsideauto.com/p/mickey-thompson-m-t-classic-lock-90000000552/?green=29718DA3-15DC-5041-AB49-28138B2EC7B1 -- I need to know more information about these rims regarding offset, backspacing, & etc.

Tires -- I am open to any suggestions as this I won't be purchasing until current tires need to be replaced.

*Thanks for your help with these topics as this is a project I am excited to start. I will be posting progression of steps (pictures) to help others out in the future. The other items I will be adding are bed cover, grill, window tint (possibly), & cold air intake. I will post about these items in the future *

Really? So you would advise against this lift. What recommendations for a lift do you have?

Try Icon or Toytec for other lift ideas. Although many swear by the Bilstein stuff, there are better riding options that won't cost that much more if you do it the first time around

yes.. that kit linked is a much better lift. I had the OME kit with 885's and 1/4" top plates and it was great. my needs outgrew that kit tho and have since moved on.. but i still highly recommend it. the only thing i would do differently than whats in that kit you linked.. is do a different leaf pack.. the AAL will be pretty stiff.

Thats the kit I am talking about. But like Moose1988 said. An different leaf would be better. Like an Dakar leaf springs. Of course it would rise the price up a lots. AAL is much stiffer but for the price of the kit its really good. Adding about an hundred and some change on top of the 5100 IMO is an better option.

    Dakar rear leaf springs

my 3+1 toyota leaf spring pack with a wheelers 2in single AAL is SIGNIFICANTLY less stiff compared to my buddies dakar pack, even after he removed one of the overload leafs.

He hated the dakars so much due to their crazy stiffness that he swapped them out with Allpro standard packs.

Really depends on what you will be doing with the truck..

Hauling? Do you need the extra weight capacity? Gonna be pavement driven most of the time? Want it to be smooth?

    Icon 3-leaf progressive pack.
    Wheelers 3-leaf pack
    All pro standards
    Etc..

    Lots of options.
