how are we doing guys, I'm in need of some help. I have a 96 yota with the 3.4 and i believe that i broke the crank at 310,000 miles. Im a heavy paving equipment mechanic. So pulling my truck apart is not just in my comfort zone. I can pave a runway at Denver International Airport all day long. This is my daily driver.Im putting to many miles on my mechanic truck. Im looking to put a different engine in and was looking for some help with this. Im willing to pay. I have all the tools and the crane to pull the engine. My mechanic truck is fully equipped with welder, torches, 8000# crane and all the hand tools we would need.

if you broke the crank then its over, everything in there will be damaged and worn, especially with those miles so just go get a low mileage replacement engine from the salvage yard that was wrecked or the tranny went out and have them start it for you so you can hear it run. most times if you can hear it run they will give it to you complete with everything on it to make it run.

its better and cheaper then fixing yours or buying any "reconditioned" motor because they do things fast and cheap when they rebuild old motors at those reconditioned motor outfits. once you buy a replacement, then thats it, its in running condition so just drop it in. you don't need to do anything but plug the wires back in so you don't need a mechanic for anything.

keep your old motor for spare parts in case you need a head, camshaft, valve body, pulleys, or brackets from it in the future. keep whats not damaged and scrap the rest

Grey wire mod, Deck plate mod, diff breather mod. K&N air filter. Toytec coilovers. AAL. Custom rear lift shackles. diff drop. Centerforce clutch. Superwinch LP8500 with custom "behind bumper" mount. Winch solenoid relocation with in cab winch control. 33x12x15 Duratracs. Aisin manual hub swap.
On my old 1995.5 2.7L Tacoma I messed up the crank. I still managed to drive it home but it was knocking like crazy, almost no power, and kept stalling.

I was able to get a complete engine with (supposedly) 65 000kms for $500 from a salvage yard. By far the best option. With all the Tacoma's going in for frame recalls there seems to be lots of 3.4's hanging around.

yea i found a couple of engines one with a 117,000 mile and one with 147,000. The part that blows my mind is i had the timing belt and the water pump done at 289,000 So i have a few extra parts there. I thank you guys for your time and information.

Don't have to get it from a Chevy, crate motors work much better

But think about how much brap there will be, brap for days, or even weeks.
