I am just sorting out my new 2014 access cab Tacoma and I am wondering about the wisdom of taking the key scuba diving.

My dealer tells me there is no problem. Is this true? I would prefer to be able to just clip it into an exterior pocket of my dry suit as this is the most convenient way to gear up.

Any divers out there? Should I be using a plain metal key to gain access instead?

    Thanks,

    Peter

They key itself is waterproof, just don't take the fob with you! :)

The transponder chip inside is completely sealed. No issues if under water.

I left my keys in my pocket and they went through the washing machine. Surprisingly the fob was fine and still worked.
