Sorry to bring this one back up...but I have made the decision to take over service on my own truck as well. Have done all the vehicles I have owned before my truck so why not do it with this one. Question is...will keeping accurate records of all I do be enough to support any issues I might have with the truck under the warranty I have for the next 3 years?

Do it yourself. I am not a handy person at all and I can work on my truck. You don't need a ton of tools, they have enough ground clearance that lifts aren't needed, there are few places on the truck difficult to reach, there are a million folks here happy to help guide you through it and if you get stuck probably someone local willing to help for beer

My uncle just had his Camry service done at the dealer and they charged him 135.00 for the fuel injection service (32.00 for the FI kit, rest was labor) alone and with oil change his bill was 215.00

I know it's not a Tacoma but he only has 14000 miles on his 2011 Camry .. I said he got ripped off.

Q: What exactly does the fuel injection kit consist of ? And how often is this really needed ?

I'm thinking for a low mileage car/truck maybe once every 100k, if not exposed to really harsh dusty conditions.

A dealership can and does mess up something as simple as an oil change.
