My wife & I grew up going to the dunes and we now live about 45 minutes north of Pismo. We bought tickets for Huckfest (October 17 & 18 at the Pismo/Oceano dunes in CA) about 6 months ago. At the time my taco had been down for several months after snapping the rear U-Joint and yoke/flange ears on my custom tom woods drive shaft trying to pull out my stuck 7500lb Chevy utility work truck-just didn't have the time to fix it...

I had a ton of parts that had been waiting to be installed for the last few years (still have a bunch waiting to be put on as well)...started wrenching like mad as Huckfest got closer...

Morning of huckfest I finally spooled up the AmSteel-Blue synthetic line on my Talon 9.5 Superwinch

We got lucky that Friday was pretty dead out there because we didn't roll up & air down until sunset...

After snapping a couple pictures on the beach we headed into the dunes. Tooled around for a bit and accidently started driving into a small deep bowl that I wasn't going to be able to drive out of. Stopped before I made it worse. Started signaling for help...took about 15 minutes to get someones attention and by the time someone came over- so did 20 others. Spooled out my brand new winch line and hooked it onto a guys truck. Started winching...and this was the result after about 20 seconds of winching:

ended up getting yanked out and headed for the Moonshine Bandits concert...

Got a little rowdy when two guys started swinging and getting bloody. Watching 15 cops run through sand is pretty entertaining. Watching a 6'5" 300 LB guy with a bloody nose get taken down by the cops who are holding a tazer to his neck while all the sand sluts video is even more entertaining. Had enough for one night so we rolled out and grabbed some In & Out.

In the morning we got up early and headed back out with several of my in-laws... pictured is my mother-in-laws 4 runner, our taco, my brother-in-laws rock jock tundra and in the back my father-in-laws F-350 Superduty...all in all we had 16 people with us

Right away we saw this badass camera truck on tracks...wish I would have gotten better pictures!

I was too busy drinking beer and drooling over all the rigs to get ANY shots of all the action- here's to hoping some of you guys got some shots-post them up!

At the end of the day I shot a quick video of a guy getting airlifted by a CHP chopper: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9_qDqVZfwU&feature=youtu.be
Crappy still shot taken from the video posted above:

yup...this was year 6 and the first year it cost to get in.... $35 for a day pass (normal entry is $5!) and $100 for a camping pass (normal is $10)... it was worth it if you aren't used to only paying $5 to go play...
