If you drop down to the AC you'll gain more bed room without the exta length:D

Has anyone really had an issue with this? I can't recall hearing anyone having their tailgates stolen?

Haha, me too. That was one of the first "mods" I did to the red. These things cost too much to have anything happen to them.

That's no lie! I guess if it did happen it would just give me a reason to build/buy a double tire carrier. You can always turn something negative into a positive. Just ask our college student:D

I was thinking more along the lines of −a×−1=a, but your example works too. ;)

Have to add a more secure method of connection for all these lights that I am going to be running soon. Just the 4Hellas, a 50", 4 pods, sub/amp, and I might wire the winch directly to the battery, when the time comes, or maybe a second battery. J Whatcha think about this?

I saw another on here that was running a very similar setup. Check out tacomonazul's page. He has that mod on his. You can see a good pic of it on page 2749 of the "What have you done to your Tacoma today?" form right now. But that form has a lot of actions so if you look later for it you may have to scroll back a few pages. Anyway it goes, it is better to have an auxiliary fuse box for you aftermarket accessories. Tying into something already on the truck is just a potential issue later down the road. :D

So after looking into this, I have come to the conclusion that this mod would only slow down the would be assailant. There seems to be a few other ideas out there to prevent the theft of ones tailgate. I will continue to research this and offer up my opinion of some of the more effective options once I am more informed. :typing:
