Remember when antennas "telescoped" up and down, either manually or powered!

I have the stock antenna. Looking to buy a new one. Was thinking of buying the antenna X.

However, I have a question for the antenna Gurus. Last year a Toyota employee at my local dealership ran my truck through their car wash, after I specifically told them not to. It's not a touch-less wash so they are supposed to take of the antenna before sending it through. Instead the guy bent my antenna and trapped it between the front door and the frame. Pure laziness. Since then my reception has been terrible.

Do you guys think that replacing the antenna would help or is it something else that could have been damaged in the process, like the part the antenna screws into?

I know people will be thinking that I should get the dealership to take care of it. But I should mention that the service manager had my wheels re-finished free of charge because of the mishap. This was well passed my warranty and would have cost about $500.00. I figure I made out better this way. :D

    Any help would be appreciated.

I wasted money on the AntennaX 14". Unscrewed the stock antenna, screwed it in, lost half of my preset stations. And Im in the suburbs, not the boonies.

I like how the text on their site says "99.9% of the time reception stays the same OR improves."

    I am the .1%

I have an Antenna X 15" I bought off of a TW member here and it works perfectly. Love the look of it. Tired of the stock antenna. Didn't lose any of my presets like @webdr. Could it be that maybe something "shorted" on your radio?!

Not an expert at any of this by any means, just a thought.

After damaging the OEM antenna at Carwash, I purchased a stubby which actually looks good but if you still listen to regular radio stations, I’ve noticed that with the stubby in tunnels or parking lot structures, the reception is really crappy.

I don’t want to sound like an idiot, but will blue locktite work? I’m new to Tacos and have never changed an antenna before so I honestly have no clue if it would work.

I want an Antenna on my 3rd gen. Something kind of long and a bit floppy in the wind. I want to throw a yellow ball on top for extra floppiness. I just want that character for my Taco I guess ‍♂️

    got this last week. https://www.ebay.com/itm/293362901043
does the job. obviously doesn't pull in as many stations as the stock mast, but low profile and does fine with the locals.
I use SiriusXm anyways so the heck with terrestrial radio :) It looks cool as well.
