Ok. I have a weird brake problem that I need help with. I have an 07 - V6 TRD double cab - manual.

The brake pedal has a long travel after about 2 minutes of driving. The next time I press on it it is normal for about 1 minute no matter if I let it alone or use the pedal. The pedal does not build pressure (like there was air in the system) when pumped.

I just changed the LEFT front bearing (hub and all) and was very careful (as always). I removed the caliper and pressed the pistons back slightly with a big pair of vice grips. I will admit I turned the rotor over once and twisted the hose (nothing extreme).

I have bled and bled the system in the right order using the 2 person method with clear plastic tube into used brake fluid. NO bubbles anywhere.

I even used the VSC method (which I don't have) where you turn the key to the on position and bleed.

The only interesting thing is from the RIGHT front there is a vibration in the hard line from the ABS to the wheel when the pedal is pressed for the first time while bleeding and also when not bleeding. I paid special attention to that wheel and bled the bejeebers out if it. I even loosened the hard line into the ABS and bled that quickly to see if that solved the issue.

There is NO leaks on any 4 wheels or lines between. The fluid level remains constant.

ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!

    Thanks.

Ok. I figured it out. Apparently the bearing that was sent was bad and was causing the pistons in the rotor to be pushed back further. Therefore the pedal travel was longer.

Go figure. If you have mushy or soft brakes check out the bearings during your normal process of diagnosing the issue.
