mi i going to rip boots, break axles if i put a 3/8" spacer on top of my 5100s at the highest setting? i have factory coils and plan on droping the sway bar downand adding a 1.5" add a leaf on top of my 1.5" block until i get a leafpack. what are your opinions. i do plan on changing out the coils within the next 6 months. do i need to extend rear brake lines?it goes on a trail maybe once a month. other than that its a pavement princess

Okay here's the deal. Depending on how long a shock you go in the rear you may need to space out the lines. I am running a 10" travel shock in the rear with a leaf pack that is 2.25" thick (I retained the overload spring to achieve that thickness on a 4 leaf tab pack). I used a 1/4 spacer on the rear brake line plate to space out the lines a little and it turned out great.

As far as the front goes, you can run a spacer, it's not suggested because you could potentially damage your shocks because you are spacing the shock out but not the bump stops, therefore at full collapse of your shocks the bump stop is no longer limiting the travel, the shock is now the limiter, and you don't want that.

No you will not rip boots or break axles. Anything past 3" and you will run into CV angle issues.

I think he means top plate spacer not an actual coil spring spacer.

I have a 1/2" spacer on my OME kit to get full 3" on the lift.

That's what I'm referring to. The top plate spacer spaces out the entire shock body from it's original mounting point, therefore the overall travel to bump is now spaced out as well.

What he is saying is if there were a one inch spacer above the shock then you now have one inch farther to travel to reach the bump stop which if your shocks aren't long enough means the shock will hit full compression before you contact the bumpstop. bye bye front shock.

I understand. But the top plate spacers are usually 1/2" max. Anything over that starts causing some damage. I also put superbumps on the front. I have some bump stop spacers to put on the front too.

I was just making sure we were all on the same page. I don't see the problem. We're just trying to help the OP so he doesn't break something needlessly. You know what you're doing but he might not...not knocking the OP at all just saying.

As long as you have done your homework to make 100% sure your shock will not max out prior to bump contact then good. Make sure your math is correct and check it twice just to be sure.

    No worries man!

Just trying to explain different kinds of spacers. I'm sure any and all information will help the OP (there is a TON! ..ask me how I know..)

Ok cool I will order some bump stop spacers. Maybe to limit the travel. Of the shock.
