San Antonio service dept. recommendations please

I bought my 2011 truck out of state and now I need to find a service department in S.A. It's time for my first oil change.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good shop? Good/bad experiences? I live in Uvalde and will be driving a good hour just to get to San Antonio.

I had a very bad experience with the sales staff at Alamo Toyota so I won't be going back to them. The waiting area at North Park looks great. Anyone have any experience with their service department?

 

i like red mcombs toyota....i always go at 7am right when they open and im outta of there in 35 to 45 mins

North Park is good thats were I go. there not bad at all. its probley closer to you too.

 

Good to hear positive experiences for both of these. I was originally looking at North Park because the place is so spacious and if I had to wait too long at least they have plenty of really comfortable leather sofas. But I'd wait by the curb if it meant my truck was in good hands.

I once took my ford truck to a ford service department for an oil change. I drove off and heard a noise under the hood. Pulled over and popped the hood and found a two foot long screwdriver on top of the engine. Aside from leaving it on the motor, why would they use a screwdriver for an oil change? I'm not bashing ford. I still own two fords, but this is the kind of thing that scares me.

Toyota of Boerne by far the best and nicest. Awesome showroom. Been to Red Mccombs and Cavender. Both take forever. Cavender took 2 days on a 30k service. Boerne said can be done in about 4-5 hours. Been in and out for tire rotation and oil change in sometimes 20 minutes never more than hour even when they busy.

 

I ended up going to Northpark. 5k oil change, tire rotation, and complimentary wash took about an hour and a half from the time I drove up. Several plush waiting areas, two large tv screens, two large fireplaces, free beverages, outdoor covered patio, wifi, 3 desktops available. If you have to wait this is a cool place to wait.

The only strange thing is the parts department also serves as a small boutique. It's seems more like an airport store with jewelry, womens items, stuff stamped "San Antonio", etc.. I was hoping to look at truck stuff. No luck. Still, this is a very nice place and I would recommend it to anyone.

 

For those new to The SA area, there are 5 Toyota dealerships in SA.

Universal Toyota - Northeast SA - owned by Red McCombs
Alamo Toyota - North Central SA
Red McCombs Toyota - Northwest SA
Cavender Toyota - Northwest SA
North Park Toyota - Southwest SA

North Park was originally North Park Toyota of Boerne. They were in Boerne for a couple of years; then moved to the southwest side of SA

The Boerne Tx(30 mi from downtown SA on I10) dealership is now Toyota of Boerne and has been for awhile.

Also - about 50 mi north of SA on I35 in San Marcos Texas is Toyota of San Marcos.

You'll hear one person say dealer A was great; then another will say otherwise; therefore I won't include my opinions. I do 99.9% of my own work. Only go to dealers for warranty or recall work.
