I just got my Taco a few weeks ago as a project. The e-brake wouldn't engage, and I need it to pass a safety inspection. I investigated, and I found the the rear cable was stretched and about to break, so I ordered a new one, went to install, and found it's about 6-10in too short.

The truck has a lift (owner doesn't know how much and i haven't verified height yet, but it's at least 6-7in) and is on 35in tires, would this be enough to make the standard cable length be too short by that much? And it is the correct cable, I've verified this in multiple places.

If the cause of the problem is simply the lift, how would I find a cable that's the right size?

I've searched the forums, but couldn't find anyone with this problem yet. Thanks for any help!

Welcome to TW! IIRC, on the larger lifts, 6", I thought they needed to use a different brake cable due to the length.

Do you know if I would have to custom order a cable, or does anyone here know where I could purchase one?
