I'll want pictures of that lol, depending on the shape, the evaporust is probably not the best thing for it. 0000 steel wool and a light gun oil (rem oil works well)

Anyways, I haven't had much time to work on my project lately, I think tonight in going to reassemble the entire thing and see how it's looking put together (I'll post pictures). I'm still working on how to get a few things apart. Ive got a running list of things I know I'll have to replace (so far not much, that will probably change when I get the gas block apart).

Yeah, I think a couple cans of CLP, steel wool and elbow grease hopefully, then I plan to send it in to get re-blued. I have to wait and see what kind of shape everything is in, but I want to restore it to original condition. I'll shoot it a couple of times just because I want it to be fired by 4 generations, but it is a sentimental piece more than anything.

I'll post pics of it though for sure.

Well, I'm not gonna get it together tonight

But I have found a local guy who does cerakote (woot!)

Anyways, I want to pitch something by y'all.

I really like manlicher stocked guns, so much so I've been debating buying a cz527 fs (full stock), I'm now toying with the idea of making a manlicher fore end for this gun, what y'all think?

0000 steel wool and gun oil won't hurt the finish of the metal if you don't scrub hard , it will remove rust though , which is what I use it for

IMO, don't do it, I'm not a fan of the manlicher stocks, but I am a fan of a BAR with normal wood furniture.

Every gun I've removed rust with using the steel wool and gun oil has never removed patina or bluing, I don't scrub hard enough to do anything but knock. The gun oil actually does more than the steel wool, the blued finish and steel in the gun is harder than the steel wool, so unless your actually scrubbing, it should hurt the finish. don't scrub hard, just a light rubbing with it should do just fine, I've got an old single shot somewhere that has some rust on it, I'll post some picture of the gun before, during, and after while using the steel wool. The very fine Bronze wool also works though I haven't used it yet, it's actually softer than the steel
