    Hi folks,

    Sooooo glad to be here.

My sweetie and I just brought home a 4x4 Regular Cab, MT.

A few years ago, she and I moved into a cabin in the mountains of Northeast Georgia. We're at the top of a mountain ridge, and the last mile of our road is some gnarly dirt and gravel.

We met online... She was coming from Charlotte, NC, with her Prius; I was coming from Gainesville, GA, with my Cadillac CTS. True love, truly, but...

Two lousy cars for our road, our cabin. We decided early on that what we really need is a Toyota Tacoma (we're building up a mushroom farm), and a Subaru Outback, or something close (we have kids, we camp, we take road trips).

But... cash flow issues... you know how it is.

That little Prius was a champ... we basically used it as a truck. (You can get a LOT in that little hatchback.)

But, this last weekend, the red light went off again... we took it in, and they said it needed a new water pump and some other stuff. About $800. We had killed the air conditioner over a year ago, and fixing that was more than the blue book for the car.

Bu-utt... While we were taking the Prius in for repairs, the dealer just happened to have on the lot the truck I would have chosen even if I had a blank check and limitless inventory: Base model regular cab 4x4, 4 cylinder, manual transmission. (I don't want gizmos; I want a truck to do stuff.)

(Don't know why these pic links show up as broken on the preview; I need to figure out how to post pics... they work when I put in the straight URL: http://www.rdwarf.com/users/mink/lb1.html and http://www.rdwarf.com/users/mink/lb2.html)

I'm pretty sure at some point I'll pine for an access or double cab, but the regular cab is really what I want. A) easy to park and fun to wheel, B) I just love the look... even straight stock, it just looks like it's up on the balls of its feet, ready to go, ready for anything.

Getting a bit sentimental... have you seen either version of True Grit? Mattie's horse was Little Blackie... a little go-anywhere, do-anything horse with a great heart (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ruth-starkman/true-gritlittle-blackie-h_b_801260.html). That's how I am hoping this truck will be for me. So, it's Little Blackie.

    Anyway...

Glad to be here. Don't plan any significant mods soon... but am looking to you guys to help me pick the best tires (and maybe wheels) soon. Might set it up as a camper at some point.

    Regards,
    Brad
