I've been shopping around for the best lift for my 05 Trd access cab and want to get the true 3" of lift with little to no rake. I have an Allpro plate bumper that weighs roughly 140lbs but at this time thats pretty much all my added weight to the front end. I'm pretty dead set on going with an OME package with dakars considering the age and condition of my stock leafs but i'm at a toss up for which coil would suit my needs best. From what ive read the options i have are the 885's with a 1/2" top plate spacer, the 886's, or the 887's. i do some off roading but nothing extreme. mostly just cruising down poorly maintained lease roads and forestry roads with an occasional mudhole in the way. My taco is my daily driver so i dont want to sacrifice too much towards the off road side... searching for any good advice from fellow members with experience with the 886 or 887 and similar set up. thanks!

Are you running a bumper and winch, or just the bumper?

Being as you have an access cab, and not the heavier Double Cab, I would go with either the 885s and a 10MM Top Spacer kit, or the 887s.

885s will provide the nicer ride, but you may not be quite to the 3" mark, which IMHO is better anyway.

Would you go the 885/spacer or 887 route in order to get the softer spring rate ?

^^ Yes. Plus I have seen and talked to quite a few people who have had issues running the 886 coils. They really need a lot of weight up front to function well.

Do you think that a top plate spacer , possibly even the 1/4" ones would help with the OME shock topping out issue over sharp bumps people tend to complain about ?

ie " over speed bump goes clank "

I'd like to know the answer to this question as well. The 'clunk' is super annoying.

It may help. I think internally the OME shocks are hitting metal to metal at full extension (could be wrong). So it may be hard to eliminate the clunk, unless you run some limit straps.

i'm running just the bumper. with it being my daily driver i would like it to have a nicer ride.

i'm also looking to stuff 295/70r17's after lifting so i want to make sure im sitting high enough to do the least amount of rubbing

You will be very unhappy if you get the 886s. Your suspension will be topped out all the time, and you will be "forced" to get a winch to bring the ride height back down. That's what happened to me, at least. I bolted a winch's worth of steel to the ARB bumper to see how it would act with a winch. It helped a lot. It still clunks when driving surface drops away, like a pothole or sudden dip, and the lift has been on more than a year.....and that's with a double cab as you can see.
