So I jumped in my truck today after driving 100+ miles yesterday. Starting driving down the road and noticed vibrations from the front passenger side wheel/suspension. Pulled over, looked at thing and everything looks good. I assume it's not ball joints (haven't tested yet) because I replaced them maybe 1200 miles ago. Cv's arent ripped, and everything is tight. After not seeing anything obvious I looked at the driver side just to see if I missed something and noticed this 790DC149-A516-49EC-91B0-53339E8CFD95-137_96918cf10705f3344828ffdc443ff31eb3e04911.jpg
It's 85+ degrees and totally dry here. I assume that shock oil? Wierd that that's on the driver side but the vibrations very obviously on the passenger side.

Anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this vibration?

It looks like oil from the shocks but I wouldn't think that it would cause a vibration. Maybe you lost a wheel weight and the tire is unbalanced? If you have recently changed out suspension/drivetrain parts, check the torque on everything.

Frozen calipers can cause vibrations, and not nessasarily cause brake drag. Not sure how much of a problem rust is where you are but here it's common for it to happen

checked ball joints, they are good.

    Checked wheel weights, also good.

Checked torque on everything, all tight.

what do you mean by frozen calipers? everything I have heard of and read about frozen calipers means that they wont work and are frozen in place. my brakes work just fine and I know the rotors are not bedded.

Took everything out of my bed and cab, still rode the same so I know its not a shifting/unbalanced load issue.

also checked tire pressures and they are all good.

I am at a loss guys, any other ideas?

soooo I went to the shop in town just to see what they thought it might be, got it on a lift and it looks like tierod ends and bushings.. they quoted me 241.07

Wondering if I should just do it myself... would tierod ends make the front end vibrate like that? now that they say it I am noticing a squeak in the steering.

I'd say yes they would since they control the steering. Any slight movement back and forth could make it seem that way. Tie rods are pretty easy to change.. and they don't cost very much. You could probably buy them both for $65.

So, I assume we're talking about Outer Tie Rod Ends? If so, then just do it yourself, like SupraTT said. If they are quoting you $241 for Inner Tie Rod Ends, installed, then that's a great deal!

BTW: RyanC, I didn't notice you lived in Puyallup... I lived there for 5 or 6 years back when. It's a small world!

The plan is to do it myself, I watched this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVQHgcXEhpE and I think that I am going to do both inners and outers, if ive got to take it all apart I might as well right?

The only question that I have left is I can for sure do this without getting the truck off the ground right?

Double check on the price for OEM inners... they can be expensive. Out here in CO, it's actually cheaper to get a CVJ OEM Reman rack (with ITREs installed) than to buy OEM ITREs from the dealer.

No your gonna want to atleast jack the front up and put it on stands so you can move the wheels in and out as needed.

Well I finished the tie rods (inners and outers) had the truck aligned and it still is shaking.. Its got me thinking its got to be driveline related..

    Any ideas?

Hey guys. I had this annoying growl from my passenger side. As it turns out it's the mount for the air intake come loose and is rattling
