2015 grill paint doesn't match?

so i noticed the part surrounding the grill in a different shade than the actual magnetic grey paint. It has more of a goldish tint to it. Is this normal? I don't see why they would make a different color on just that small of a piece.

It is the same paint. Just looks a little different because of the materials the grill is made of.

 

My bedsides have a different level of metal flake than the cab on my bought new mgm.

 

plastic to metal will always look different. if you look closely the mirror caps, handles, flares, front bumper and grille should all be a slightly different shade.

bedside to cab shouldnt be different. maybe your truck was fixed before? cars do get damaged in freight when new and could have been fixed and sold without a delaration.

 

It may depend on which truck you have. The base Prerunners all have the same color grill, regardless of the color of the truck.

 

its only on the grill its not super noticeable unless in direct sunlight. I called toyota and they had no clue and told me to take it into a dealer. But she did mention that one other gentleman called about the same thing but he noticed it after a car wreck and after it was fixed.

 

Which trim package do you have? The base model grill is similar but not exact to magnetic gray.

 

I noticed the same on mine. It's the angle that the grill is at that makes you notice a slit difference in color. I took mine off and angled it the same as the hood and the difference in color was not there.

 

If it was it wasn't disclosed to me. The entire bed is a touch darker and different looking flake content. Oddly enough, the paint matched grille i bought from toyota looks to be dead match to the front of the truck.

 

My 2012 MGM is the same, grille looks lighter than hood etc.

 

and i have the base model. Good to know I'm not the only one.

 

To the best of my knowledge, that Tacomas are available with 3 different grill surrounds, chrome, body color, and what they call argent, which is what all base models come with. Argent is pretty close to the magnetic grey metallic color.
