I have a 2012 single cab 4x with 2.7 auto. I cannot find gears or lockers for this truck (so far). The axle code on the door jamb is A02A which according to the posts I've read means 7.5 open diff with 3.58's. I marked the left rear tire and drive shaft and checked the ratio. Two full tire rotations showed a little over four rotations of the driveshaft, indicating 4.10's which, as I understand, is the stock ratio for the 4WD's. Not sure why the door label indicates different. I had the dealer look up the order codes but there was no ratio info in Toyota's data. With a 2.80 first gear and 265-16's this thing is a dog off the line, bordering on dangerous when trying to merge with heavy traffic. I cannot find gears/tru-trac/air locker etc. for any 7.5 diff's newer than 2004. Superior Axle and Gear shows 4.88's but no info on year of truck it fits? Saw this same gear on Ebay. Seller stated '95 to present? None of the off road parts web sites I've checked show anything for my truck. Truck needs 4.88's badly! Anyone figured this out?

The 2.7's have the 4.10 gears, and 8.4" housing. Look for things that fit that.

Your truck should have the 8.4, just like any other 4x4 Tacoma out there (other than the TRD Off-roads models, which have a slightly smaller rear axle). But now I am curious what the code is on my truck.
I also looked up the codes, and found a link to TW, and only found the codes for early trucks (04 and down).

No codes needed. All Prerunner and 4x4 2.7's have 4.10's, all V6's have 3.73's

[IMG] Hope this link works, first time posting pic. Does not look like an 8". It's truly puny.

unless your truck was assembled by a secret rear end swapper you have the same rear end as every other 4cyl taco. as above, call east coast gear, they will hook you up.

I know, I was just wondering what mine said, or even had one.

Edit: Mine has the same code (no surprise), I guess Toyota changed the meaning of the codes after 05. But OP, everyone else gave great suggestions on where to buy gears.

Thanks guys. ECGS's website shows the housing as an 8". Great news! I'll give ECGS a call Monday. Thanks again.
