Since toyota switched out our rear speakers to the headliner in 2010+ I've been looking for a way to add better speakers in the back of my truck without cutting my truck up. I've seen the DIY posts but even though I work on cars the thought of cutting up my trim panels is horrifying to me since I love the stock feel inside but want that amazing sound system.

But there is something I came up with and wondering if it'll work, the older access cab trim panels had a perforated cover than allowed sound to come out of the panel. They since switched the panels once they moved the speaker to the headliner. However since toyota likes to keep things generally the same they still have the spot for the speaker on the doors, which means if they are using the same doors then theoretically the trim panels should be an exact fit and I could just run the wiring in the corner of the door with maybe a slight trim to run the wiring from the inner panel to the cab.

I was wondering if anyone has done this before?
