My parents let me watch r movies at a young age, I still haven't killed anyone and don't go around beating up 50 people a night like I saw in those movies. I see no problem letting them watch. Nanny much?

For the people defending the OP....You guys do not get it at all. This is not a matter of conformity or giving in to social norms that do not fit your lifestyle or culture. As a parent you have a responsibility to protect the child. And again...not to hover or raise them in a bubble. If you have any knowledge of mental health or child development...please make your arguments with references to such. You can't because you don't have this knowledge or education. As far as culture is concerned...this is the benefit of living in a first world country! Yes you have freedom to do a lot as you wish but instead of being oppressed...you have the freedom to inform and educate yourselves to help create a better quality of life for you and your loved ones that you are responsible for. The reason why it is called a better quality of life is because we have made the advances in human welfare and learned a LONG time ago that life experiences in other countries as well as some traditions within some cultures were detrimental to the well being of children. Again....knowledge...get familiar!

Honestly i'm not all that torn up about it. I may think the rules are outlandish and may not agree with them but they are still rules, which means i just have to find a loophole through them like buying the tickets at a kiosk instead of an actual person. The only thing I've learned from this thread and today's earlier post about checking Halloween candy is that people feel very strongly about how someone else parents THEIR kids.

I wasn't looking for advice on how myself or my gf could be better parents, let's be honest this is the internet and advice from people you don't know on the internet is the last thing anybody needs, unless it's how you get that hidden bolt behind the fender to take out your headlights. :)
