Wondering if anyone can answer my question.

Basically, I bought the Ultimate lift a few years ago, which came with Bilstein 5150 rear shocks. One is broken and I need to replace them.

From what I can tell, these particular shocks have been discontinued, and I don't really care if I get the same ones if I don't have to. I was able to find them, but they are out of country and would take a while to arrive (I need my ride). Want to find something locally available so I can get it fixed ASAP.

What other shocks can I buy to replace them without spending an arm and a leg? What should I be looking for spec wise to make sure they fit without any trouble?

    Thanks in advance!

for a true 3" lift, the bilstein 5125(33-186542) would be ideal. downsouthmotorsports or allprooffroad (whichever has better shipping up there) would be able to order that specific application for you. i know this because im putting an order in for the same. how is it broke anyhow(internal or external)? poor rear suspension beats on shocks. Check out OMD's leaf refurbs, it'll transform your taco's life.

Thanks. It was broken internally for some time, but just last week, the rod became detached from where it mounts at the bottom. It's most likely my fault because I wasn't too kind to it last summer. Was doing some landscaping and loaded the box a few times with heavy black muck which probably didn't help it. I have to admit that I was a little curious to see how much it could take too. :)

I have Old Man Emu Dakar springs, so that should be ok.

    Thanks, again.

Fab fours front and rear bumpers, B.A.M.F. weld on rock sliders, softopper, removed mud flaps and D-Badged everything. Icon 2.5 Extended Travel coil-overs, Total Chaos upppers, 2.0 Icon extended travel shocks with the resi's and Dekar Leaf packs.
Just get a set of Icon 2.0 extended travel shocks with the resi's. And I know you dont need the resi's but it actually cost more money to have a non resi set costume built to fit the rear setup you have with the Dakars. I had the same lift as you and I had three Bilstein 5150 rear shocks relaced (under warrenty of course) before I just went with the Icons. They dont have enough travel to go with the Dakars, thats what I was told anyways.

The exact lift I bought a few years ago now comes with:Rear Bilstein 5100 Extended length rear nitrogen gas shocks.

    http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/Ultimate-Tacoma-lift-with-Bilstein-shocks_p_394.html

They call it a 3'' lift. (The full lift does 3'' in the front and 2'' in the rear which ends up levelling the truck in the end).

Does this still mean mine is a "true 3'' lift, even though we are talking about the rear?

Am I correct to assume that these (5100) would replace my current 5150s perfectly without having to modify anything? (straight swap) If so, does anyone know what the part # would be? It is my understanding that there are different lengths/valving, travel too. Forgive me, I am not a mechanic. Also note that mine is a 1st Gen Tacoma (1995.5-2004).

I just want to make damn sure whatever I order will bolt on and fit without any issues.

    Thanks guys.

I ended up going with these: F4-BE5-D560-T0 5100 Bilstein.

    Thanks,
