Bolt LED's in bumper

After putting in a 30" light bar, I trimmed my license plate as to not block one third of the light bar. As it turns out, police in BC will pull over a non-douchey, non-rice rocket with a cut plate and make them get a new one.

So, still not wanting to cover my light bar, I relocated my plate below the light bar, leaving the original license plate holes in my bumper.

I filled the holes with these flush mount bolt LEDs:

I'm thinking about doing the exact same thing, No plates in Illinois is illegal but not regularly enforced as long as you aren't driving like an idiot, but I would rather not give them a reason to pull me over. I do have a couple of questions.

Did you just screw straight into the lower bumper for the plate, or did you put nuts and washers behind the bumper? Also is it flimsy at all down there with no support on the bottom?

Finally, what size of LED did you go with from Oznium?

 

I just drilled some holes in the lower bumper and used the original screws. Mine had some pretty decent sized threads, so they hold well.

My initial plan was to bolt them, but the crash bar runs right behind that part of the bumper, so I think you would probably have to take the bumper off in order to do it that way.

Its not as good of a mounting position as the factory one, as they have threaded plastic sleeves for the screws behind the bumper. That being said, I think that it's on there securely.

The LED's that I bought were the 16 mm ones.
